Bodium Castle and Batemans

Last Christmas my friend bought us an English Heritage Membership to use, then we decided to join National Trust as well but up til now we haven't visited any places so last week we decided it was about time we did. The weather was beautiful s we decided to go over to Bodium Castle in East Sussex. I am a great fan of Castles and this one didn't let me down.

From the outside it looks intact but inside it is a ruin. It was really interesting looking around it and we listened to a talk on how it was built. If you ever get the chance to visit then you should :-)

The moat is one the largest one surrounding a castle in this area.

The fish in the moat are huge!

We spent a few hours at Bodium and after having a bit of lunch we drove over to visit Batemans - the home of Rudyard Kipling. The house is very nice as are the gardens although I think we visited at the wrong time as the flowers were dying but I think in the height of the season they should be lovely.

This is a picture of the Gift Shop which is an Oast House

Afternoon tea - don't mind if I do :-)

Fabby day and the first of many.

Thanks for reading
