Autumn has arrived

Well supposed to be the first day of Autumn today, what happened to Summer???? It was quite chilly today even though the sun was out still better than the rain.

Today was the first Wednesday in 3 and a half years (apart from when I have been away) that I have not had my grandson for the whole day or half. Now he is at school full time I have my Wednesday's free, although I did go to pick him up today and he came home to spend a few hours with us before we took him home. We are taking him away to the Isle of Wight at the weekend as a treat for him and us!!

I do have a card to show you today. It is one using the big word stamps from Woodware. I just love these stamps. They make some great simple cards.I only have 1 but nope to get hold of some more.

The card is an A5 card, the backing card is from my stash. The backing paper is from a 12in x 12in Wellington Pad. I stamped the word out onto the card and then stamped again on patterned paper and paper pierced it. Cut the card candy out of matching card and added a Craftwork Card greeting.

Holiday snaps

Have no card to show you today but I do have a couple of scrapbook layouts from my Florida holiday last year. We go to Florida every year and I take lots of pictures, I download them to my computer and that is where they stay! It's taken me almost a year but I have finally started to put them on scrap pages. These too are digital but I will be printing them out at some point. I do hope to eventually do all the years I have been away but that may take some time... this will be my 9th year going and a couple of those years we went twice a year!!

Anyway the first layout shows pictures from our road trip that we did up to St Augustine. On the way back we came down the coast and stopped off at a couple of beaches. The main one being Daytona.

This layout has pictures from our trip to the local County Jail at St Augustine. There is a lot of history and it was quite eerie there but very interesting. If you get chance read up about it.

Hubby's Anniversary Card

Well today has been a bit of a lazy day this afternoon. Hubby has been working due to the Rugby World cup. I went to the gym first off and then been up in my craft room. I only managed to make one card but I will show that once I have photographed it.

However he is one I made earlier :-) . The card is for my hubby on our anniversary which is next month. It's very simple. The front topper was done in CAP. The frame is from Mays PL Digital art. I took it into CAP and added the greeting abd added the blue to the black frame. It was then printed off and matted onto blue card and spotty card from my stash.

Darling Dachshunds

Ooooo second post of the night. I do have a card to show you that I have made for my nephew who is mad about dachshunds, him and his wife..:-)

For his card I have used the Darling Dachshunds stamps from Little Clair. I stamped them out and then coloured them with promarkers. Inked the edges with distress ink to soften the edges (still got to perfect this :-) ) I have used a patchwork backing paper also from Little Clair ad also kraft card. The stamp greeting is also in the stamp set, used a small scalloped circle to mat it on. A piece of bakers twine and a button to finish off the card.

New Front Garden

What another strange day weather wise today. One minute lovely sunshine and next torrential rain! So glad that we had they came and done the front garden yesterday where we had sunshine most of the day.

As mentioned in a previous post here are the before and after pictures of the garden. We had grass with to corner beds with bushes in, a circle of little bushes in the center and bushes all along the front wall. the garden was also curved as in went down at the sides so we wanted it all to be leveled and lawned. It was done by a local firm S.D Winson Landscape Gardens who transformed our back garden. All work was completed in a day and it looks great.

Before from the house to the road.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Today has been quite a busy day. I had the workman in today to redesign my front garden. (Pictures will follow soon!) I also had to go over and get Leon's school shoes changed as I noticed yesterday that he had been given odd shoes. Clarkes changed them no problem but the funny thing is that he has been wearing them for a week!!

The card I have for you today is for my mother in law's birthday in December. I have followed this week's sketch over on Tuesday Morning Sketches here.

The images is from one of the Hunkydory's Little books (can't remember which one though!) I have used bazzill bling backing card and the pattern paper is from an old papermania book. added some flowers and greeting from Craft work Cards.

Some simple Christmas Cards

Well today has been an eventful day. I had to pick my grandson up from school earlier than expected as he decided to smack his face onto the grass at playtime. Cut his head, scratched his noise and got decidedly muddy!! Picked him up and brought him home, washed him up changed his clothes and then he had a medicinal nobbly bobbly ice lolly!! (Amazing what they can do :-) ). He is fine, will just have a bit of a shiner tomorrow I think. As I was cleaning up his school shoes I noticed that although very similar they were two different shoes! We had bought them from Clarks and had not noticed. I called the shop to advise them and see what can be done as he had been wearing them for a week. I have got to take them back tomorrow...was going to spend the morning crafting but it didn't work out that way...

The cards that I have to show you today are some that I made at the weekend. They are simple Christmas cards. I got the idea from a friend, Kim, (Check out her blog here , she makes some lovely cards)
The die is a Sue Wilson one, cut onto mirri card, white card has been embossed with swiss dots embossing folder. Love this effect.

First Day at School!

I mentioned in an earlier post that my grandson, Leon started school last Thursday, only half days for a week but he still started and probably like most mothers/Nannys I still don't think he's old enough. He is and he is so ready for it.

The picture that I have put on my side panel is him in his school uniform. He so looks like his Dad here when he started school! I have been having a play with CAP and the picture and here is the outcome.

One day I am going to print all these pages off and put them in a scrapbook.

New Baby

Well what a funny old day it has been today weather wise, very windy and the rain was lashing down this morning and then lovely sunshine this afternoon although we did have another down pour later this afternoon I have been up in my craft room this afternoon/evening trying to get all my friends and family cards sorted for the year. I seem to have a lot of wedding anniversary's these latter months, including my own so they were on the agenda today. I will show them on a later date.

The card that I have to show you today is a very simple card made for a friend's daughter who has just had a baby girl. I already had a card for my friend congratulating her on becoming a Nanny, but wanted to make her daughter one to. I used image from Crafters Companions BeBunni baby papercrafting kit. Backing card and a couple of toppers. Simple but effective.

Tuesday Craft Workshop

It's has been an emotional few days this week. On Wednesday hubby and I took our grandson, Leon, to Drusillas for the last time prior to him starting school on Thursday. We have been taking him there almost every week since he was 18 months old. Then on Thursday Leon started school which was a very weird feeling. I have updated  my picture of him in his uniform on the side bar.

Last Tuesday was the first of our monthly workshop classes with Vickie after the school holidays. As always we made six little cards all using Stampin up products. I loved all of them...

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I have quite a few anniversary's in September and like to make them a bit different. This card I am showing you today started from an idea I saw on Pintrest (has a lot to answer for :-) ).

I followed the sketch over on Tuesday Morning Sketches here

The backing paper has been run through the cuttlebug with the swiss dots embossing folder to give it some texture. The heart is made from lots flower heads stuck on a piece of card. Time consuming but effective I think. The stamped greeting is from Lily of the Valley layered onto scalloped spellbinders circle. A ribbon bow and some gems finish it off.

Hope it follows the sketch ok.

Workshop card 3rd Sept

Had a lovely time crafting today over at the monthly workshop I attend. We made a total of 6 very simple cards using Stampin Up products. I will show you the cards once I have photographed them.

The card that I have to show you today though was from my fortnightly workshop with Clair. We made a stunning card (well all the cards are ..apart from those using glitter :-) ). This is a large 8 x 8 card. The embossing folder we used was an A4 one, falling leaves. The greeting is stamped with versamark and then embossed with gold embossing powder. The leaves were stamped onto backing paper which we had made ourselves using 3 different Tim Holtz distress inks. The leaves were stamped out and then die cut and then triple embossed. They look lovely and I really enjoyed doing this.
I didn't quite finish it at class so I did that this afternoon and used my battery operated glue gun for the first time. :-)

Workshop Challenge

It was time for another challenge over on the workshop group I belong to on a Thursday. Myself and Mary won the last challenge so we had to come up with the next challange.

Mary came up with this sketch for MFT. I chose the colour scheme of Black and White.

I am loving the black and white theme at the moment so hence why I chose it. Here is my offering for the challenge. I had to make an anniversary card for my sister and brother in law. The image I used was from May PL digital Art. The greeting is computer generated. The backing was put through the X-cut with dotty embossing folder.  A ribbon was then added.

A couple of Drusillas layouts

Those that know me, know that I have my grandson every week and normally we go to Drusillas . Our weekly visits will soon be coming to an end as Leon is starting school next week so our time at Drusillas will be reducing :-(

Here are 2 layouts I have done in CAP of  recent visits.

This one was when George and Peppa came to Drusillas. Normally when they have characters there, Leon doesn't like his picture taken but this time he did!

This is when we went with my friend and her godson Jacob. This is them being roaring dinosaurs.

These will go into Leon's memory book that I am doing for him.

It's only taken me a year to finish...

Every year, Clair, who runs the fortnightly workshop I go to on a Thursday, holds a crafty day to celebrate her birthday in July. The card I have to show you today is one that I started back then last July 2014. Here is the original post showing some of the makes I did there. We were due to make 12 cards, I think I made 4 in the class and prepped the rest so I still have about 6 to go because I'm sure I finished another one.

Anyway for tho card we used a Stampin Up roller stamp, die cut butterflies and some gems. I love the colours of this one, and yes there was a smudge on the card hence the bigger butterfly on the bottom :-)

Challenge card

As you know I attend a card workshop every fortnight and we have recently decided that it would be fun to do a challenge each fortnight, post the card on the facebook page and then we vote to which card we liked the best. Jenny won the first challenge so she had to set the next one which was 'Red, White and Blue' in honor of the Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch this month.

Here is my entry. A card I designed in CAP using the kit British Street Party. The layout was based on some cards that we have recently made at workshop. All is printed flat apart from the center flower that has been decoupaged and blue gems stuck in the middle.

Where has the time gone???

Today was my penultimate Wednesday with my grandson before he goes to big school next Thursday. I still can not believe that he is 4 and that he is starting school - he still seems far to young to go. Here is a picture of him at Drusillas today.

The card I have for you today is an anniversary card for my sister and brother in law. I do love black and white cards and this is what I have made here. The image is fro Little Claire 'Silhouette Dance'. Have matt and layered black and white backing card. Used some black gems and a tiny bow to finish it off. Very simple but elegant I think.
