Workshop 20th August 2015

Ok, so those that know me are aware of the fact that I don't do glitter, however the last at the last workshop, Clair decided to do a card using said stuff. I was not looking forward to it but I did use it.  The glitter was used round the edge of one of the mat ( people were rubbing it in with their fingers to make the coverage good - me?? no way.:-)

The flowers are a stampin up stamp with is lovely - gone onto my wish list :-) - they have been coloured with promarkers.

I love the finished card and the colours just not the glitter although I did manage to get away with minimal self glittering.

Freshly Made Sketches

Isn't it always the way, you start clearing your craft room/space and come across items you forgot you had. Well I did that yesterday and came across 2 card kits from Pollyanna Pickering Collection. I think I must have picked them up cheap from a craft shop. I just had to make a couple. Here is one I made.

For this card I used the kit 'Is it Time Yet'. I have followed this weeks sketch over on Freshly Made Sketches here.

All items used for the card were found in the kit including the black card which I think makes the card pop. I do love collies too.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Well today has been a bit strange. This morning I helped hubby do the gardening and then we went to the tip and then to B and Q. This afternoon I haven't been able to settle, not sure why. Tried to do a bit of crafting. Decided to cut some Christmas die cuts out but the die wasn't playing. Did manage to cut 4 eventually but by the time I did that I couldn't be bothered to make them into a card. Watch this space.

I do have a card to show you today and this is for a good friend's birthday whose main interest is golf. For this card I have followed the sketch over on Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I have made the card using hunkydory kit and some gold mirri card. I do so love using their kits. They make simple but stunning cards.

Men's Birthday's

A couple of weekends ago I went up to Southend to help celebrate my friends, brother's birthday. we drove up on the Saturday morning. Went to her Mum's for brunch and then went for a walk to take her dog.
In the evening we went for a lovely meal at a great restaurant and then onto the casino. I spent £10 on the roulette table but I lost it as I am not very lucky.

On Sunday we went to the seaside to a lovely cafe to have brunch and then had an ice cream on the prom before travelling back home.

It was a lovely weekend and her brother enjoyed having everyone there.

Here is the card that I made Russell for his birthday.

Russell love to play golf so I thought this was appropriate for him. The card was made using a hunkydory kit. Backing card has been matted onto gold mirri card. I have just added a '50' peel off.

Football & Hunkydory

Well what a horrible wet and nasty day it has been. Rain, rain & more rain. So miserable when the weather is like this.

I have 2 cards to show you today. These are for 2 of my great nephews who celebrate their birthdays in August.

Both cards have been made from the Hunkydory Little book of Manly Moments.

This card has been decoupaged, matted onto kraft card and blue backing card. Greeting is from Craftwork Cards.

This card has also been decoupaged and matted onto red backing card which has been run through the cuttlebug and embossed with a football embossing folder. Piece of black twine has been wound round the card and a greeting from Craftwork Cards has been added.

Make &Takes from the GBCF

Ok so following on from my post yesterday, here are the projects that were made in the make & takes I did on the Saturday & Sunday. I enjoyed all of them even if some were messy.

This was done using Brushos. Very messy but great effect.

MDF Christmas tree painted and then stamped on with distress inks. Again a very messy project.

Francoise Reed make and take. One of her stamps coloured with sekura pens. Lovely effect. I sold all my pens a couple of years ago but I may just have to buy some more. :-)

Hunkydory Butterfly notelet set. Beautiful project but only had tape to make the box. Needs wet glue for move ability to make the box fit properly.

Here is what's inside of the box.

Great British Craft Festival - Workshops

Well today has been a lovely sunny day - very hot. Shoreham - near where I live - had their airshow today but unfortunately one of the plane's crashed  onto a nearby busy road and there were some fatalities. Very sad for the families. Not all details have been released yet but my heart goes out to the families of the people that lost their lives and those injured.

On to happier news, a couple of weeks ago, a couple of friends and I went up to the Great British Craft Festival. On the Friday we did some workshops and here are the projects that we made.

This is a picture of us all waiting to go into one of the workshops.

The first workshop we did was with Powertex. A fabric hardener that can be used on all natural materials. This is my plaque that I made. I wish that I had scrunched the  fabric up more round the face. I do find the face a bit freaky but it turned out ok. Take a look at their website they have some lovely pieces.

This is the Hunkydory workshop that we made. A little booklet showing the story of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'  The pictures of the insides have not come out very well but you can see the idea. This has so much potential.

A Craft tidy made with Princess Pinflair. (tools are mine and didn't come with the project :-) )
This was made using cardboard and material.

There was a 4th workshop - a chalkboard but I haven't finished it yet so will show when I have. Watch this space for the make and takes I did on the Saturday & Sunday.

Sisters, Sisters

Today I wish to share a scrapbook layout that I have done in CAP. The photo is of me and my sisters at my nephew's wedding reception. It's a rare occurrence that we are all together. I love my sisters very much but never get to see them often as we live all over the country.

I am the youngest, Sue, in the middle, is the oldest and it was Mandy's son's wedding.

The page as I said was done in Cap using the photo kit 'Damask'

Quick catch up - more to follow

Well what a busy couple of weeks I have had since I last posted. I still have some layouts to do from my nephew's wedding. 6th August I went to the Great British Craft Festival with some friends. Pictures and more details on the workshops will be forth coming when I have sorted my stuff out. (still in bags in my craft room!), Came back last Sunday and then on Wednesday we took my grandson up to Thomasland. Pictures will be blogged again once I have sorted them out. hen this weekend I went to Southend to celebrate a friends birthday. I am now home relaxing :-)

Luckily I have got a couple of cards that I can show you which I made previously.

This card was made using CAP using the 'Secrets' digi kit. Printed out and then layered on black card. 3 gems were then added.

This card is for my brother in law. It was made using 'Tech Wizz' from the Hunkydory kit 'Magnificent Men' The 'brother' greeting is from Craftwork Cards.

Nephew's wedding

At the beginning of July, my nephew and his fiancee got married in Mauritius. My sister, brother in law, nephew and niece attended together with Nicola's mum. After the wedding they had their honeymoon.

Here is a scrapbook layout that I have done with the one picture that they showed of the wedding day. (they wanted to keep the other pictures until the wedding reception)

On their return they held their 'wedding reception' with all their guests. The wedding party were told that they had to wear their wedding outfits as did my Alex and Nicola. It was a lovely to be able to celebrate with them.

Here is another layout that I did of the happy couple at the reception.

My Brother In Law's Birthday

Over the weekend I spent a lovely time up at my sisters' celebrating my brother in law's birthday. Every year my sister holds a family bbq where she gets all her family together ( daughters, son & their families) This year she also invited me.

I had a great time and it was lovely to spend some tome with them.

Here is the card that I made Ron. The image is decoupage and comes from the Wellington ultimate kit as does the backing papers. The grey backing card is from my stash and the greeting is from craftwork cards. I'd followed a sketch for a challenge but was then too late to enter but I did like it and will be using it again.

The rest of my Christmas Cards
