This weekend just gone, hubby and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary and we went away down to the New Forest for the weekend. On the way down we visited Portchester Castle near Portsmouth. The castle is just a ruin but it is on a huge plot of ground and very interesting. You have an audio guide whilst walking round and it was very interesting. Well worth a visit.
Saturday we spent the day in the Forest - stopped off in Lyndhurst first so that I could visit the craft shop there. Then on to Brockenhurst. Such a beautiful part of the country. The day ended on a sad note though as we hit a deer that came running out of the bracken across the road. We missed 2 but clipped the 3rd one. Unfortunately she had to be put to sleep when the ranger came out as she was too badly injured. Luckily we were ok and no damage to the car but ot was very sad.
On Sunday, our actual anniversary, we decided to have a drive into Bournemouth and then work our way back via the coast. We visited Boscomb, Christchurch, Highcliffe, Milford by the Sea, Barton on Sea and Lymington.

We then drove inland to Beaulieu. Here are some pictures of the village. These were taken from the car as we couldn't find anywhere to stop.
We then made our way back to Lyndhurst and were met by the donkeys. I love donkeys.
The evening ended with a lovely meal at Prezzo's in Lyndhurst.
A fabulous weekend in a beautiful part of the country.
