Have made another 2....

Yep I have made another 2 cards over the weekend. One is a wedding card and the other will go into my spare box!!

The wedding card is made from a white pearlescent 5" x 7" card. The top 3/4's of the card was run through the cuttlebug with the swiss dots embossing folder. An embellishment of champagne glassed on a printed matt was put in the middle of the card. A silver peeloff 'Congratulations' was put on the bottom and 3 glass gems stuck underneath.

The second card is also a 5" x 7" white pearlescent card, the top half has been put through the cuttlebug using the swiss dots embossing folder. Patterned paper was used to cover the bottom of the card with the join covered by yellow sticky ribbon. A piece of yellow organza ribbon was put down the center side. The dufex decoupage flower fairy was stuck on a piece of creamy yellow card and mounted in the centre of the card. A few gold peeloffs were put around the fairy. Not sure what or who will get this one yet so have left the greeting off at the moment.

Devon - March 2009

Well I have survived my first day back at work following my gret holiday down in Devon. We stayed in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere and I mean nowhere. Nearest shop was 6 miles away! We were between Bideford and Barnstable. The road that the campsite was in was called 'The Road'. It was so peaceful.

The site was lovely set in the middle of a copse, in the area that we were in there were only 4 cabins. This is our one 'Foxglove'. As you can see it had a hot tub also which was lovely.

Hubby and I haven't been down to Devon for years and it was lovely being down there again. This was the first time that we had stayed in North Devon though as we normally stayed down near Dartmoor.

The weather was good on the Saturday and Sunday. On the Monday it was a bit cold but we went down to Morwellum Quey which is down near Tavistock. It's an old mining village which has been restored and normally in the summer, people of the village would walk around in Victorian costume. However as this was out of season they weren't dressed up as they were getting it ready for the tourist season. It was still good to go back there. We had fun in dressing up in the costumes.

On the Tuesday the heavons opened and it rained all day. This was the day we decided to go to Lynton and Lynmouth. What beautiful villages. We had a ride up the Cliff train from Lynmouth up to Lynton. As you can see from the picture we all had to wrap up against the elements.

On Wednesday we woke up to a light dusting of snow which looked beautiful but had melted by the time we went out. However on Wednesday evening it snowed quite heavily. I managed to get some photos of it and then on Thursday morning we woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland.

The hot tub was fun in the snow. Felt like we were in the snowy mountains.

On the way home on Saturday we drove through the New Forest which is another of my favourite places!.

Back to reality now and countdown to my next holiday. Only 7 weeks to go!!!!

What a week....

Well it all started last Saturday. Gary & I went down to Portsmouth to the wedding of my cousin David's daughter Marisa. I had always been close to david as a youngster. He was like a father figure to me when I was growing up. Unfortunately due to different circumstances I hadn't seen him or his family in a few years apart from the odd phone call to his wife over the years.

We got in contact with Marisa last year on a chnace meeting, she was working at Specsavers in Brighton and Gary went in there to get some new glasses and she served him and it went from there.

She told us that she was getting married and wanted us there so we went. I was excited to be seeing David and Magdaline again after all this time. The last time I had spoken to Magdaline, about a year ago, she said that he was acting strange, loosing his memory and that maybe had onset dementia. Well i wasn't prepared for the shock I got when I saw him walk Marisa down the aisle. He looked so old and it really upset me. I suppose it's the old thing that you never think people get old, they are always as you remember them. After the service I spoke to him and he seemed really strange. He knew who we were but he just seemed very distant. He was always one to make jokes, be full of fun etc, but he seemed subdues. He just kept walking around and smiling at people with a stupid grin. I spoke to magdaline and she said that she wanted to let me know before we went down there but what woth the wedding etc she forgot. She said that he has no idea what is happening to him, just thinks that he is forgetting more and more.

Although the wedding was lovely and it ws lovely to see all the family is still upset me to think of him like that.

Then today Gary had to go into hospital to have a op on a a lump on his ear. Last summer her had a scab opn the edge of his ear that wouldn't heal up. It kept bleeding, scabbing over. We didn't think anything of it but then it went hard. In October it started getting a bit bigger so he went to the doctors and they said that it looked like a cyst but to keep an eye on ot. She told him that it's if it scabs over and keep bleeding that you have to be worry about - silly sod didn't tell her it had already gone through that stage!!. Anyway we went on holiday and whilst away my friend and I noticed that it was getting bigger and looking quite angrey. i told him that he needed to get it checked out again and when we got back from holiday in December he went back to the doctors. She looked at it and immediately said she would refer him to the hospital to get it checked.

he had the appointment come through quite quickly and when he went up there the consultant confirmed that it was skin cancer and the lump would have to be removed. However it did say that it was non spreadable cancer!! When he told me I freaked out a bit, I hate that word.. I have lost both my parents to it!. The letter for hios operation came through quite quickly, it was for 17th February. They would be removing the lumpo under local aneasetic. However the Friday before his op, he got a letter to re schedule the op for today. He was upset as he hadn't been sleeping and getting himself worked up. Over the last week, the lump has grown and has started bleeding and looking really angry. This afternoon he had the op. The surgeon told him he hadn't seen a lump that angry adn it took quite some time to cut it out. He came out and it looks like he has had his ear cut in half and then sewn up! They are sending the lump away for analysis and he has to go back in 6 weeks for a check up but at least it is done. he was told that his ears will never look the same now and you can see that the one that he had the op on is smaller, but as I said to him, that he can live with that. His work cap may be wonky when he puts it on...lol (he's a police inspector).

After this week I am pleased to be going away on Saturday. We are off to Devon for a week.!

Guess what?

I have made another card..that's my 3rd one this month..

This card was for my mate Pam (http://peejays-ramblings.blogspot.com/), Her birthday is today. The picture is from Kanban and I have matted and layered it on black and then silver card. It was then stuck on to a black card. The greeting is a silver peel off stuck on blacl card and layered onto silver card. I then tied a dark grey ribbon round it to finish it off.

We went out last night to the dogs for her birthday and she wasn;t going to open her cards but we made her open them.

It looks better in real lifeas the picturedoesn't show off the colour of the dress.

I saw these lady pictures and fell in love with them.

Lion King & London

Had a fab couple of days last week. Went to London on Thursday to see the Lion King. Had booked it via Lastminute.com. Deal was book a hotel room and get the theatre tickets free (the tickets were for the grand circle - lowest priced tickets). Too good a bargain to miss so booked 2 rooms (the other room was for our friends as part of their Christmas pressie). The hotel was in Paddington (Best Western Paddington Court). very nice hotel, rooms were lovely, had everything you wanted although we did have trouble with the lights... but we got it sorted.. eventually!
We jumped on the tube and went to the theatre. The tickets that we got were actually in the Royal Circle and excellent.
The show was fabulous - for those of you that haven't seen it, it is very emotional at the beginning. Cyd, my friend, cried!
On Friday we decided to go siteseeing and we wanted to go to Harrods. We decided to walk there which was fine except we walked the wrong way for about 10mins :-), this was down to Gaz reading the map wrong..lol. We got there eventually. I love Harrods.
When we got back I checked up to see what the ordinary price of the Royal Circle tickets were and they range from £55 - £66. We got the hotel and the tickets for £56 each!! A definite bargain!

Tomorrow!

So excited.... off to see the Lion King tomorrow in London and staying over night in a posh hotel! Can't wait...I love going to London, it still excites me now even at my age... hubby and I will be playing tourists on Friday!

Another Card!!

Well who would have believed it. Another card!! This is for my great niece who will be 6 next week. The topper is a fairie poppet decoupage. I have fallen in live with these fairies. I think they are really cute.

The decoupage topper is matted onto pale pink pearlecent paper which has gone through the swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder. Then stuck onto a pearlescent white card. 4 gems stuck on the 4 corners.

Silver 'happy birthday' stickers put on the edges and Olivia's name was coloured with pink peel off pens.
