Craft Workshop 20th Feb 2014

Yesterday was craft workshop in the morning and Clair came up with a bee-utiful card this week (Sorry Clair pinched your word!!)

We used a honeycomb mask from memory box (first time I have used a mask) and Darice embossing folders - Bee. The bee was a freebie digi image from the internet coloured with copics and the wings have been 3d. The edges of the paper have been distressed using distress ink. Such a simple card but so effective. Have had to get the embossing folders and may even get the mask too.

Friday Sketch Challange

Good afternoon from a lovely sunny part of the South Coast here. We have had a right mish mash of weather today. Started with rain, mist, fog and now sunshine.

My card today has a bit of a story to it. I designed it on CAP using the Fizzy Moon Weekend kit. The image was then printed out so that I could decoupage it. I decoupaged it using silicon glue that I had had for some time. I left it to dry and when I went back to it the glue had come through the paper. Obviously the paper wasn't the correct thickness or there was something wrong with the glue!. Luckily I had saved it on CAP so was able to print out another topper on thicker paper and used new 3d glue. I have then added some gems and a greeting from Craftwork cards.

I have followed the sketch on Friday Sketch Challenge blog and will be entering it into their challenge.

The sketch is here

& here is my card.

Autumn Card

Well I am knackered, have spent the day with my 2 and a half year old grandson Leon. I have him every Wednesday and today we went to Drusillas, a zoo park that we have membership to. He loves it over there as it has the animals, a play park and a soft play area. Running after a small person isn't much fun normally and when you have a bad cough it's even worse but we survived and he fell asleep on the way home so he had a good time.

Haven't had time to do a card today so here is one I made earlier in the week. I have made it using the Squirrel from Hunkydory's 'Fall for Autumn' papercrafting kit. I just love the colours of this kit. Have matted the backing card onto brown card and the same with the topper. The greeting is from the kit also and I have then just added a couple of brown gems. The picture does it no justice!.

Feeling Sketchy!

Well we have had another lovely day today, the sun is shining and I am smiling , well I would be if I didn't keep coughing everywhere!! We had a downpour this morning but since then it's been lovely - roll on Spring!

Well my card today is one I have done following the sketch over on Feeling Sketchy. A nice simple one. I have used Hunkydory's 'First Bloom' kit for this one. The backing card and the topper are both from the kit. The ric rak ribbon is sticky ribbon I found in the draw and the butterfly is a 3d one I found in a draw. The greeting is of course from Craftwork cards. I have made it into a Mother's day card. (Getting a head of myself!!! )
Here is the sketch.

Sunday Sketch & Stamp Challenge

Well we have had a respite from the rain the last couple of days. Yesterday was beautiful, sun shining and it was even quite warm. Today has been a bit overcast but warmish. Haven't felt brilliant today, I am now getting very fed up with my cough and my rattling chest. We need some cold weather to get rid of all the bugs!!

For my card today I have followed the sketch over on Sunday Sketch and Stamp challenge. Only done one sketch challenge this year so I thought I would give a couple a go.

The image is from Just Inklined and I have had it for some time. I has been coloured using promarkers. Backing card is from my stash and the paper is from Papermania ( backing paper I have had for a good few years,)It's amazing what you find when you start to sort stuff out!!. Have then added a bow from my stash and a greeting from craftwork cards.
Here's the sketch.
and here's my card.

Valentine's Day

Good evening from a very windy but not raining yet, South Coast here. We are supposed to be getting up to 80mph winds this evening - not good.

Today as you are aware is Valentine's day and hubby and I always give each other cards but this year is kinda special as it was 25 years ago today my hubby left a single red rose at my back door together with a note to ask me if I would go out with him. Obviously I said yes and the rest is history! I still have that rose and the note. Not only did I get a card from him but also a bunch of flowers.

Here is the card that I made from him. It's a bit girly but I love these little bunnies. The card was made from the Crafters Companion Bebunni love card kit. The backing card was cut and layered onto silver mirri card. The image is also layered onto mirri card cut in a spellbinders nestie. Stuck onto the backing card with 3d foam tape along with the greeting. Then I just added some gems. I then added a matching insert.

Seraphina Alphabet

Good morning from another wet morning here on the South Coast. We are due for another storm this weekend but at least we do not have the flooding!

My card today didn't turn out how I originally planned it but it did turn out ok I think. Image is from the Seraphina Alphabet CD. I just love this alphabet. I used to use it a lot when I was cross stitching. The backing card and backing paper is from my stash. The image is layered onto card cut on spellbinders. Flowers & gems are also from my stash. The greeting is from Craftwork Cards.

I'm spoiling you today with a second card  :-). Well the weather today brightened up lovely, cold, but nice and sunny but we are due for more rain tomorrow.

My second card is a decoupage topper of Wellington - I just love this bear. Backing papers and greetings all come from the Wellington Ultimate kit. I have just added some gems. Quick easy card.

Hunkydory Kit

At the moment we have sunshine but 30 mins ago we had torrential rain!! I am so so fed up with this weather and also doesn't help that I am not feeling too good at the moment, I have a hacking cough...

My card today is for my niece. I have used a topper sheet from the Hunkydory kit 'Decadent Days'. I fell in love with Hunkydory kits last year when I went to the Great British Craft Festival. The backing card is from the kit also. I have matted the topper, the backing card and the greeting all on black card. I've then added some black gems and black ribbon.

Craft Class

Well what awful weather we are still getting. Rain, rain and more rain! Although I have to say we are so lucky where I live as we are not under threat of flooding or have been flooded. My heart goes out to all those poor people in Somerset, I have a friend who lives down there and him and his family have had to move out of their house. Also all the poor people that live along the Thames. Not only have they got to put up with the water in their properties but also the scum that decide to loot their houses!!

Right back to cards. Haven't made any over the last week or so but did manage to make some this afternoon. Haven't photographed them yet cause it was too dark by the time I finished them but will put them in my blog as soon as I do. So today I am showing you a couple of cards that I made at craft class. Clair is a very talented lady who designs our projects for us and provides all the materials for us. Pop over to her blog here.

This first card is an easel card. The image is a LOTV image - don't you just love this bear?. I have used promarkers to colour him. Nesties have been used to cut him out and the greeting base. Can't remember where the backing paper came from.

This is a shadow box card that we made last Thursday. Much easier that I thought it would be. The insert has been stamped and coloured with copics. Flowers are from Stampin up and stamped using coloured ink (can't remember the colour). The stamps do come with a corresponding punch but I cut mine out freehand.
It does flatten down to go in an envelope.
I think I may be doing more of these. ( I did say 'may'!! )

Strange Saturday

Well what a strange old Saturday it has been , weather wise I mean. One minute it has been sunny then we have had a hail storm and strong winds, then sunny again and then lashing rain!! Luckily I haven't had to go out so I have just sat in the warm.

My card today has been made using topper sheets from Acid Drops and Whatnots. They do the most fantastic stamps and have just started doing topper sheets. I first came across them last year at the Great British Craft Festival and fell in love with the stamps. The images are excellent and the greetings and saying will make you laugh. Go have a look at their site.

As I said I used one of their topper sheet. Matted the image and the greeting onto black card. The swirls is from one of their stamps and I stamped that straight onto the card.
