What a lovely day!

What a lovely Sunday I have had today. It started off going to Asda'a with Cyd. Not my favourite task, shopping, but she needed some help. Her hubby who was supposed to go with her decided last night that he would be going to golf instead... didn't go down well I can tell you.

When we got back we decided that we would go to Stanmer Park and walk the 5k route we did last week on the Race for Life. It was much hotter today but we did the walk in 50mins, 45secs which was 5 mins off our time last week. We have decided that we will try to do the walk every Sunday as we don't do much exercise. The picture on the left shows the laske and the church on Stanmer Park. It is a beautiful open space with great places to walk.In the summer, lots of families go there for family barbeques and family fun days.

After we had done the walk we decided to go out to a little villiage called Litlington near Eastbourne. It's a quaint little English villiage with loverly tea rooms. It was a bit hairyu getting there as once you turn off the main road it is a single track road. I was driving and I don't lioke driving places I have never been to before. I missed the turn off for the tea gardens first - oops- had to do a uey (U Turn) but found it eventually. We had a nice cup of tea and sandwich.
The Sussex country side has some lovely places to visit and like most people that live somewhere, you never do visit.
A lovely day was had by all.

My favourite snacks are crisps, biscuits with my cuppa tea (preferably digestives) and cashew nuts.

Things I would do if I was a Millionaire:-

His arm is getting better

For those that have read earlier posts , you wii be aware that Hubby broke his wrist. Well after several cancelled appointments with the fracture clinic he finall got to see them today. His original appointment was last week but they had to cancel as the doctor ws on holiday!! Because he only had a temporary plaster on and this was too big has the swelling on his arm had gone down, he visited the plaster clinic and got a new cast in purple (apparently you can have black, blue, yellow, pink, purple or black!).

For the last few days his wrist has been aching so he was worried that the doctor was going to tell him that he needed an operation... would have been his own fault as he has been using it too much!.

Well when I got home from work today he was all smiles. It seems his arm is mending well and that he may be able to have the plaster off next week and fitted with a splint! Thank goodness for that..

Designing flyers

My friend Hevs has just completed a podiatrist and is trying to set up a new business. When I visited her last week she was telling me that she needed some flyers for her business. Her dad had tried to help by blowing up her business card onto A4 paper but it didn't look professional but he tried to help.
I told her that I would have a go at designing her some flyers so I took her business card and said I would see what I came up with. She said that if I could she would come down and do hubby's feet for me as his feet are a bit mankey!!

She cam down today and I managed to get he flyers done. I am having problems down loading it at the moment so will do it later. I was quite pleased with the outcome and so was she.

And hubby has got nice smooth feet!!

What type Of Fruit are you?

I read this on a friend's site and thought I would give it a go.

I AM AN ORANGE!

You have a zest for life, especially for anything colorful, wild, or dramatic.

You have a unique take on the world, and you're not afraid to be a little funky.

You are a bit reserved toward people who don't know you well.

You have a thick skin, which can protect you from anything that goes wrong in your life.

Once someone does get to know you, they totally get and appreciate you.

Your friends see you as a bright person with a refreshing take on life.

Not sure how much it is like me but I do like things wild, I can be reserved (or shy) when I first meet people. (Doesn't last long though..lol). I do have a thick skin and usually block things out if they go wrong. (If you don't think about it it can't hurt you..) and I hope my friends see me as a bright person.
Thanks for reading.

Well I did it!!

The Race for Life that is. At Stanmer Park in Brighton my friend & I lined up with 3000 odd other ladies to do the 5k run/walk.

The weather was great, stayed sunny but windy. First thing was the warm up and I was knackered after that. Then the race started at 11am. My friend and I went through the start line at 11.10am and went through the finish line at 12.05pm - 55 mins it took us at a good steady paced walk.

The worse part was the start, about 5 mins into the walk my calf muscles were screaming out but we got through the pain barrier lol and apart from one part where it was up hill and I kept having to remind myself to breath, I really enjoyed myself and will be doing it next year.

When you sign up you get your running number and also another bit of paper to write on who you are doing the race for. I was doing it for my Mum who lost her fight against lung cancer in 1992. Also for my dad who lost hos fight when I was a little girl in 1977 and my hubby's Grandad who died of cancer in 2002. I raised about £120 which I am pleased about. Thank you to all those that sponsered me.

It was quiet emotinal when we crossed the finishing line but worth all the pain I know I am going to suffer tomorrow... lol

The Week That Was

I really do not know where the time goes! It's Saturday again. Right what have I been doing this week?
Tuesday I met up with an old friend that I hadn't seen for a long time. She split up from her partner late last year and moved into a new flat just after Christmas. She is 49 and this is the first time that she has lived alone. We went for something to eat and then went back to her flat where we sat talking about the past and having a good old laugh. Hubby phoned me to see if I was coming home and it was quarter to 11. I couldn't believe the time had gone so quick. She has just finished a training course to be a foot care specialist (chiropodist). She has business cards done but wanted some fliers and brochures done so I said I would have a go at doing some for her as she's not very good on the computer and also to save her some money.

Work has been busy too as I have had to complete my mid year review which is really just a paper exercise to see how you are doing but we have to do it. Takes a lot of time.

Gary has been to the hospital to have a new cast put on his arm but he still needs to go back next week to see the doctor.

On top of my busy week I am due to do the Race for Life race tomorrow and I haven't done any training at all. I will post again after the race ...... if I can move.

Thanks for reading.

Made some cards today!

Guess what, I actually made some cards today. I forgot my neices wedding anniversary so went to my craft room and created. My 'mojo' had disappeared recently and I haven't made a card in months. So up to my craft room I went and sat there. When I first got my cuttlebug I played with some of the embossing folders so I had the hearts on pink paper. I cut it down to fit on the card and added some hearts cut in foam. I added a gold peeloff greeting.

I was on a bit of a roll then, lol, so made another card for my sister anniversary which is at the end of the month. This again I made with cuttlebug embossed paper, the swirls which is on pearlescent paper. This is one of my favourite embossing folders. I have used a dufex topper of two champagne glasses and hearts and a silver greeting. It doesn't photograph very well but I think it looks quite classy! lol.
I enjoyed myself today and just wish I had more time to make more. lol. Who ever invented 'work'!!!!!

Father's Day

Well as you all know today was father's day. Today was the first time in years that my hubby got to see his boys. The youngest one, Dan, who lives with us gave Hubby a lovely card and pressie this morning. Our elusive oldest son, Bryan, came over on Friday and gave him his card then. He opened it today and another He had got Gary a card with lovely words also.

Bryan is a chef at a local restaurant and Gary & I went there for lunch. Bryan cooked the meal for us and then paid fr it too. Another lovely surprise. I am so pleased for him as he is really down and frustrated at the moment with his arm.

What a pain.........

That's my hubby! He's only had his broken wrist for a week and he is driving me crazy. He is getting into such a strop when he can't do things. We have devised a cover for his arm so he can have a shower but I have to wash his right side as he can't do that.

I have had to practically pin him into his sling so that he doesn't use his fingers on his broken wrist. Doesn't seem to understand that he could be doing more damage to his wrist everytime he puts pressure on his fingers..

MEN!! Still only another 6 weeks to go............

He's Home

Well Gary arrived home yesterday with his arm in plaster! It is a temporary plaster at the moment and he has it in an upright sling. He has an appointment with our doctor on Monday who will refer him to the fracture clinic here and he can get a permanent cast put on.

It is really funny at the moment as he is finding it difficult to do the easiest of things. He says you don't realise how much you need both hands for.

Last night we had a great time at my friend's son's 21st. It was a fancy dress do and all his mates dressed up. He was Captain Jack (Pirates not Torchwood!!), His older brother was Al Capone. We had Buzz Lightyear, BatMan, Superman, Indian Jones, Wonder Woman (his mate Ben dressed up), Woolverine, Dorothy, Pocahontos, Felicity Shagwell, Austine Powers, Rocky, John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever, The incredibles and other. It was a great night.

Good News.....Bad News.....

Well today I had a day off and my friend Cyd & I went up to Ikea in Croydon. I drove and the journey up there was good. When we got there we had cuppa and a cooked breakfast which consisted of scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, beans, hash browns and tomato. All this for.....95p.. What great value.

We had a wonder round the shop and Cyd picked out a new kitchen, new bed, new dining table.. not sure what her hubby will say ..lol. She's sending him up there to buy it.....We then went into the 'Market Place' for 'bits'. Have to say was a little disappointed and only spent £23!!!!

We left there at about 12ish and started on our journey back down the A23.. as we approached the start of the M23 there were Police there and they have blocked the road off. I was not happy, I'm not very good with changes and didn't know where I was going. Anyway it turned out ok as we just followed the old A23 down through Redhill, Merston, Crawley and then I knew where I was going!

Now for the bad news! As you know Hubby is down in Devon on a golfing trip. Well he rang earlier this evening which I thought was a bit strange as he normally calls me about 10ish. He called to tell me he had just returned from Exeter Hospital after breaking his wrist!
How did he do that you may ask.... playing football no less. He was in goal and one of the other bloke's kicked the ball and it hit his hand hard and the wrist broke!! Luckily it's his left one and the hospital said that it's a clean break and he doesn't have to have any op or anything. Thank goodness!

They are due back tomorrow but this has put a stop to his golf playing for the next 6 - 8 weeks!!

Men - do they ever grow up!.

Still no crafting - but a good laugh

Well all good intentions etc.... Sunday I thought I would have an afternoon crafting but then changed my mind. Couldn't settle.. don't know why maybe due to hubby being away.

Anyway decided to go round my friends and we ended up going through all her old photos as she is wanting to get some of her son, Dan whose 21 on Friday to stick up in the hall. Well we found some great ones of him - well he may not be too pleased!!

I love lookinh through old photos and I may now have to get all my old albums out - remember those before digital cameras- and have a look walk down memory lane.

Have sold a couple of things on my ebay shop and they have been sent off. As they have closed down the post office near work I thought I would try the postage that ypu can do yourself via paypal. It was very easy to do and will save alot of time but I'm still not convinced it will work until I know the customers have their parcel. If it is ok I will have to look at investing in a decent pair of scales. We will wait and see what happens.

Lazy Sunday

Well up early today. Just seen Gary off on his annual golf trip down to Devon with the boys. Bless him he is not very well at all, realy bad throat and chesty cough. Still nothing stands in the way of golf.

Now what am I going to do with myself? Well later on today Cyd and I may go to bingo but not sure.

On Thursday we are off up to London for the day. I love visiting London. It relly excites me. We will be going on the London Eye as Cyd has never been on it before. Lets hope the weather is good.

I have eventually listed some stuff on my e-bay shop http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ubeautycrafts so that is up and running again.

I have also got my web site up and running. Only listed the decoupage sheets at the moment but will be looking at doing the Dufex and other stuff soon. www.ubeautycrafts.com

Also I need to get a couple of cards made. Dan, Cyd's son is 21 on Friday. May have to cheat there and buy a card but I will see how the time goes.

I will keep you updated.
